preordering the comics

I find myself switching more of my comic buying over to dcbs, although there are several titles I’ll pick up at a local comic shop every few weeks. The discounts on the site are sweet, and I’m more likely to take a chance on a new graphic novel if it costs under $10. So this is some stuff available on the site that I’m probably going to preorder (it won’t ship for many weeks), and I’ll try to point out some other good deals while I’m at it.

Basara #12. This is one of my favorite series combining plenty of action, adventure, and romance in a post apocalyptic feudal Japan. Right now, you can pick up volumes 1-9 of Basara for $6.47 each instead of $10.

There are quite a few first volumes of manga series dicounted: Othello, xxxHolic, Land of the Blindfolded is $3.48, tons of Tokyopop series first volumes: Saiyuki, Sgt, Frog, Tokyo Babylon, Legal Drug, Paradise Kiss, Mars, Fruits Basket, GTO, Initial D, etc.

Some manga series with multiple volumes available at discount include Bleach, Flame of Recca, and Angel Sanctuary, Dragonball Z, Beet the Vandal Buster, and Record of Lodoss War Chronicles Heroic Knight.

Full Metal Alchemist #1. I’m sure this title will be huge, since the anime is airing on Cartoon Network. I’m going to give this a try.
Fruits Basket #9. I just read up through volume 4, I love this series.
Ruroni Kenshin #15. You can’t go wrong with a wandering samurai.
Pale Pink by Kiriko Nananan– I’m not sure if I’m going to get this, but from the description of the manga, it looks like it follows the lives of young women living in Tokyo. I wonder if it is josei manga like the works of Erica Sakurazawa. The original title of this manga was Strawberry Shortcakes, and there’s a review of it at Completely Futile.

There are a bunch of Scary Godmother trades available.

I might buy Legion of Superheroes #6
Seven Soldiers Shining Knight #2
Seven Soldiers Guardian #2
Astonishing X-Men #11
X-Men #170
Noble Causes #11

Hellblazer: Original Sins (I’ve been meaning to try this out, and I feel a little weird that I went to see the movie Constantine without reading the comics first)
